בישראל של השנים האחרונות, מתחדדת ההבנה כי לא ניתן לבנות חברה משותפת ללא תקשורת שמשקפת אותה באופן הוגן. על אף שהחברה הערבית מהווה כחמישית מאוכלוסיית המדינה, היא זוכה לייצוג חסר ולעיתים אף מעוות בתקשורת המרכזית דוברת העברית. לאחר אירועי 7 באוקטובר 2023, פחת עוד יותר הייצוג של קולות ערביים במרחב הציבורי, תוך התחזקותם של נרטיבים מפלגים ומרחיקי אמון
